Teens in Health is a teen-run nonprofit. This policy explains what we collect when you apply to one of our programs through this portal, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We try to collect only what we need to run a fair admissions process, and nothing more.
What we collect
When you apply, we collect:
- Your name and email, and the Google account you sign in with.
- Profile details you choose to share, such as grade, school, country, and the program you are applying to.
- Background information that helps us understand our applicants, such as gender, race or ethnicity, financial need, and how you heard about us. Sharing these is optional where the form allows.
- Your written application answers and essays.
Why we collect it
We use your information to review applications, decide on admissions, run the programs you join, and contact you about your application or your spot. We use background information only in aggregate to understand and improve who we reach. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising.
Who can see it
Your application is visible only to Teens in Health reviewers and administrators who are part of the admissions process. Reviewers see only the applicants assigned to them. When blind review is on, reviewers cannot see your name or background details at all, only your answers. Sign-in is handled by Google, so we never see or store your password.
How long we keep it
We keep applications as program records so we can recognize returning applicants and maintain our history. We do not permanently erase records as a matter of routine, but you can ask us to remove yours (see below).
Applicants under 18
Our programs are built for teenagers, so most applicants are minors. If you are under 18, please apply with a parent or guardian's knowledge. A parent or guardian may contact us at any time to review, correct, or remove their child's information. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 without a parent or guardian's involvement.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you the information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or California's privacy laws. To make any of these requests, email us and we will help.
